The California YouthBuild Coalition Annual Government Education Days brought together 200 YouthBuild students to collaborate around enhancing the civic engagement and leadership development of young people in California YouthBuild programs. The students who represented 26 programs from across The Golden State, participated in workshops, discussions, and activities that collectively worked to strengthen the involvement of young people in civic leadership. The California YouthBuild Coalition Annual Government Education Days will take place on April 16-17 in Sacramento, California. Over 200 students from 26 YouthBuild programs will participate in workshops, discussion forums, and activities that will work to enhance engagement in civic leadership of low-income young people in California. Greenbuild Expo – San Francisco, CA
The USGBC donated a 30 x 10 foot booth for YouthBuild USA which was outfitted by Freeman Conference Services on a pro bono basis. This is all evidence of our growing partnership with the US Green Building Council and marks the third year of YouthBuilds’ attendance at Greenbuild. We hope it will launch partnerships with California YB programs and the regional CA USGBC Chapters.
Farewell and Good Luck Elsa
Elsa Sanchez, who most of you in the Coalition have been working closely with over the past year, will be finishing up her year service as an AmeriCorps VISTA for the California YouthBuild Coalition. CCEO YouthBuild Alumnus Chris Moore Volunteers with NCCC
The following article from The Compton Bulletin describes how CCEO YouthBuild Cycle 14 alumnus Chris Moore is currently serving in the National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC). New Tufts University Study on YouthBuild
